Rick Vittallo, a musical prodigy and world-class guitarist and vocalist, has worked with stars like Frank Sinatra and conducted for Engelbert Humperdinck. As a guitarist, arranger and conductor, Rick has led everything  from a trio to a symphony orchestra. His solo performances with the London Philharmonic are internationally well known.

The Laughing Squid of Los Angeles

While in Los Angeles last week we stopped by Vibrato Grill Jazz, a beautiful restaurant and jazz club in Bel Air owned by renown musician Herb Alpert. Our friend Tony Campanale is the manager there and during our visit he introduced us to Pat Senatore, a charming man, who along with being the music director of the club, was the bass player for Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass.

The band performing the night we were there was the Rick Vittallo Quartet and at one point Tony Pia from the Stray Cats sat in on the drums.

Engelbert Humperdinck: Live at the Royal Albert Hall  with the London Symphony Orchestra.  There is a medley of songs Nat King Cole made famous, with a marvelous "Mona Lisa" to a solo guitar accompaniment (by Rick Vittallo), as well as many of Engelbert's early hits. Two songs that are standouts are Lionel Richie's "Hello", and my favorite, a superb rendition of Edith Piaf's "If You Love me (Really Love Me) which is the encore.
